How much does a website cost in 2026?
There is no single price, because the price follows what the site has to do. A few pages that explain a business is a different job from a site that takes bookings and payments.
The short answer
Most of the cost is scope: how many pages, how much of the design is custom, and whether visitors only read the site or actually do things on it. At Storkbridge a website starts from €500 and a web app from €800, and you get one fixed price in writing before any work begins.
Those are our starting prices, not an average for the market. Other studios, agencies and freelancers price differently, and a quote should always be read next to what it includes.

A website and a web app are priced differently
Website
Explains what you do and brings in enquiries. Visitors read it, then call, write or fill in a form.
Web app
Visitors do something: log in, book, order, pay, or work with their own data.
A web app has to keep accounts, permissions, payments and data correct for every user, which means more engineering and far more testing. That is the gap between the two starting prices, not a difference in how the pages look.

The costs people forget
A website is not a one-off purchase. A few things keep running after launch, whoever builds it.
The domain
Renewed every year with the registrar, in your name. Small, but it never stops.
Hosting and the database
Where the site actually runs. Included in our care plan, or billed directly by whichever provider you choose.
Business email
Usually charged per mailbox by your mail provider. Separate from the website itself.
Services the site plugs into
Payments, booking or newsletter tools bill on their own terms, and payment providers normally take a percentage of each transaction.
Changes later
Small text, photo and price updates are part of our care plan. New pages and new features are quoted separately.
Our care plan is €49 a month, or €490 a year, and covers hosting, SSL, the database, backups, security updates, monitoring and your small content changes. Larger work is quoted separately at €25 an hour.

When a cheap site is enough
A template or site builder is genuinely fine when
- You need something online quickly and cheaply
- One or two pages of information will do the job
- You are happy to build it and keep it updated yourself
- Nothing has to connect to another system
Custom work starts to pay off when
- The site has a job to do: enquiries, bookings, sales
- You want it fast and search-friendly without fighting the builder
- It has to connect to the tools you already use
- You would rather not spend your own evenings maintaining it
- You want to own the code, the domain and the accounts outright
Plenty of businesses are well served by a site builder, and we will tell you when yours is one of them. The moment the site has to do more than look presentable, custom work usually costs less over the years than working around a template.

A single number rather than an hourly rate that keeps growing. It holds for thirty days and only changes if you ask for something that was not in it.

Then we build
You see and approve the design before any code is written, and nothing goes live until you say so. The site is in your name.
We work from Târgu Mureș with businesses across Mureș county, the rest of Romania and abroad. The work happens remotely, and we meet in person when that is the easier way to settle something.

Questions about price
Because the same word covers very different jobs. A few pages adapted from a layout, and a site with accounts, bookings and payments, are weeks apart in work. When you compare two quotes, compare what each one includes: pages, design, who writes the content, hosting, and what happens after launch.
Usually, yes. Ours start from €800 against €500 for a website. The difference is not the design; it is the accounts, permissions, payments and data an app has to keep correct for every user, and the testing that comes with them.
The domain, hosting and the database, business email if you use it, and anything the site plugs into, such as a payment provider. Our care plan bundles hosting, SSL, the database, backups, security updates and small content changes for €49 a month; you can also run the site elsewhere, since everything is in your name.
Yes, and it is often the sensible order. Start with the pages that bring enquiries, then add bookings, accounts or payments once you know the site is being used. New work is quoted separately when you want it.
Sometimes, and we will say so. If you need a simple presence and are happy to maintain it yourself, a builder can be enough. Custom work earns its cost when the site has to bring in business, connect to your other tools, or stay fast and search-friendly without constant fighting.
Because an hourly rate makes our estimate your risk. We scope the work first, then give one number that only moves if you ask for something new. Larger changes after launch are quoted separately, at €25 an hour.
